Software Specification and Development

In partnership with Azalient, MWT designs, develops and applies plugin software for the Paramics traffic simulation suite. These plugins range from simple enhanced reporting to complex behaviour models which more elaborately model driver characteristics.

Azalient and MWT work together as a team from the initial stages of conceptual design and specification through to development, testing and validation.  The Azalient/MWT team first started developing plugins in 2003 for specific projects.  Our motivation was to enhance the functionality of the core Paramics simulation where the existing software did not provide the required flexibility (e.g. lane choice), and to add new functionality not provided by the core simulation (e.g. toll plaza modelling).

The success of these project-specific plugins convinced Azalient/MWT that other Paramics users would also benefit from using these enhanced features.  Our philosophy is to share these developments with the wider micro-simulation modelling community and we have implemented a software sales system to help distribute and support the use of these plugins.

The Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales has made a significant contribution to the development of several plugins through its specialist advice, the data it has provided for testing and validation, and some project funding.  Its input has been invaluable in expanding the capabilities of the standard Paramics software and in checking the plugins for fitness for purpose.

Azalient-MWT has a continuing program to develop plugins that will enhance Paramics, and provides a customized service to develop plugins for a client specified problem.  Please contact us for a quote.
